Maricas was born in January 2018 due to several discussions about the lack of a night-out in Barcelona that combined electronic music and the queer scene. If we look back on history, the techno rave community started with the help of the LGBTQ+ misfits of the 80s. Both communities have very similar values, freedom, youth and underground culture. Our home is Barcelona, but we aim to take Maricas all over the globe.



MARICAS is a FLINT* done, run and done party that collides an activist focus in creating safe spaces with a very distinctive old-school rave sound. Our party has a very special and unique way of communicating with our artworks, campaigns and art direction, experimenting with analog technics and collaborating with artists all over the world. Apart from this, MARICAS has evolved into a record label, making releases both digitally and physically on vinyl.

MARICAS significa faggot en español y es una termino usado para insultar a la gente del colectivo. Nosotres utilizamos esto como un empoderamiento de la palabra y le cambiamos el significado, siendo el nombre de nuestro colectivo. Se usa una tipografía contundente y directa con el amarillo, el color representativo de MARICAS.




MARICAS in Spanish means faggot and it’s a term that it’s used as an insult to folks from the collective. Our aim behind the naming is to empower the words and shift its meaning.  The typo is strong and direct with the yellow color, the representative color of MARICAS.








La identidad se caracteriza por el uso de recursos analógicos, imágenes provocativas y mensajes activistas. Nos gusta experimentar en cada campaña con nuevas técnicas y estéticas, de manera que la imagen general de Maricas es ecléctica.

Toda la comunicación se hace desdel humor y siempre en colaboración con más artistes emergentes y del colectivo.




The identity is characterized by the use of analogical resources, provocative images and activist messages. We experiment in each campaign with new techniques and aesthetics, which is why the general image of Maricas is eclectic.

All communication is done from humor and always in collaboration with emerging artists and queer folks.

En esta ocasión el logotipo se representa con una mariquita, un animal que en españa se utiliza para hablar de los gays de manera despectiva, siendo las Mariquitas el diminutivo de Maricas.

If you were an animal, which one would you be?

This is the question behind the graphics of the compilation, a campaign that visually connects us with the ladybug symbol of MARICAS Records. The idea is to represent the artists in a way that does not focus on their image, gender, background or class and presents them in the typical humorous, playful style of MARICAS. The answers the producers gave us have been interpreted into each of their fantasy animal counterparts, borrowed from popular imagery in a fanzine aesthetic.
